Good news for those wishing to go to Japan sometime soon to learn more about Japanese cuisine in Japan!
If you are fully-vaccinated and the purpose of entry is business or study (not sightseeing!), then the quarantine period will be shortened from 10 days to 3 days from November 8th. Source
What is the current situation about Japan’s border restrictions?
As of November 5th, 2021, Most non-Japanese nationals are still not able to enter the country unless any special exceptions apply (e.g. your family resides in Japan or you got a new job position in Japan). The issuance of student visas is suspended, and there are even some countries and regions that are banned from entering Japan. Source
So what will happen after the new rules are instated?
In this new rule, the quarantine period will be shortened from 10 days to 3 days for fully-vaccinated travelers if they are non-Japanese nationals for short-term business trips, study, and technical internships. Yet tourists have not been included at this time.
This rule will be effective from November 8th, 2021.
While Japan still remains cautious about the protection measures at the borders compared to other countries, they are gradually loosening the entry restrictions.
These rules are constantly changing. So, we will continuously follow up as soon as there is anything to update!
